A beautiful evening in mokoro in Okavango Delta, Botswana

On the expedition to Alpamayo some things went wrong. Even though we were supposed to be at the camp for a long time already, we were still waiting for the porters to come. And that’s when the clouds started coming in, creating beautiful scenery, while full moon was being responsible for the perfect light.

El Alto used to be a suburb of La Paz, and it became the second-largest city in Bolivia. Every Thursday and Sunday, El Alto hosts one of the largest markets in the world, where one can find literally everything. At the same time it is a social happening for locals and visitors and the mekka of street photography.

There is something to Antarctica, something no words can ever describe. And no photo does it justice. Something I will always be grateful to have had the chance to feel. Because these surreal sceneries awaken emotions beyond words.
The general life cycle of a penguin: they have an aquatic phase during winter time and a land phase in spring and summer time while breeding. In general (except Emperor) adults arrive in spring time, find the partner and mate, then they incubate the egg or eggs in general taking turns of about 1/5 days (except Eudyptes that perform two long trips first the male then the female). After the eggs hatch both parents feed the chick for a month. Around 60 days old chicks moult and leave the colony generally together with juveniles that arrive one month before to moult. After that adults go to the sea to feed and be ready to spend one month ashore moulting. Finally, they leave the colony for the winter dispersion.

Pendulum Cove, the flat, black sand beach, is entirely composed of loose cinders, with no soil, and is deeply gouged by melt-water streams. The water is so warm that it creates the steam on the shore. With just below 30°C it creates a perfect possibility for an Antarctic bath. The temperature varies.
Antarctica is the land of records. It is the driest, the coldest, the windiest and the highest continent on Earth. It also is the most isolated, uninhabited, variable and the most pristine continent on Earth, where only 0,4% of the surface is free of snow and ice. Despite its hostile environment, Antarctica is home to extraordinary wildlife.
Apart of at least 235 marine species, Antarctica is also home to some 46 species of birds. Every spring its shores provide nesting space for over 100 million birds. Antarctic petrels (on the photo) have developed salt glands that let them stay in the ocean for long periods as they can extract the excess of salt from their bodies.
